Commercial Inn, number 78 Elland Road

Commercial Inn, number 78 Elland Road
April 1968. View of the Commercial Inn at 78 Elland Road, at this time a Tetley's public house. The steps up to the entrance were built by the famous Yorkshire and England Cricketer, Robert Peel (1857 - 1941) who became Landlord of the Inn in the early 1900s. Photograph from the David Atkinson Archive.

Nice to see the old 'Fish & Chip Shop' still there before it succumbed to the voracious demands of the internal combustion engine, and was bulldozed away to make space for the ubiquitous car-park.
