Description: 1983.
Aerial view over Harehills from Sheepscar. In the foreground the gable end belongs to the Victoria, a Tetley's public house at number 8 Roundhay Road at the junction with Manor Street. (Roundhay Road is in the bottom left-hand corner). At the right edge, with decorative gables is the former Kepler Council School, later to become Roseville County Secondary School and fronting Gledhow Road. On the horizon, in the centre, Kershaw Works is visible at number 200 Harehills Lane. This was the Rank Optics Factory, specialising in Fibre Optic Technology. At the time of this image the factory had closed down with the department of Fibre Optics relocating to Brentwood in Essex. The area is densely packed with red brick terraced streets.
