Image taken at Gipton Gala on 5th July 1986. It shows Denis Healey M.P. crowning Ann Marie Duffy the Queen of Gipton Gala watched by local people in fancy dress costumes. Denis Healey went down on bended knee to present the Queen with a Silver cup. Her attendants, Princess Katie Manning and Prince Shane Bosomworth were also presented with a gift. The Gala was held in the field behind Coldcotes School and there was a procession with floats decorated by local organisations, other attractions included stalls, refreshments and entertainment.
