South Gipton Community Centre, young pool players
4th February 1984. Images shows a group of youngsters playing pool at the newly opened South Gipton Community Centre. Other facilities included table tennis equipment and space invader games. The photograph was taken on 4th February, 1984, the official opening day. The Rt. Hon. Denis Healey was invited to perform the opening ceremony. The new community centre, located in the former nursery unit of Wykebeck Primary School, had been long awaited by the local community. It was to become a popular meeting place for various clubs and groups including senior and junior youth club.
