Description:
15th May 1891. Image shows an invoice made out on 15th May 1891 for goods supplied to grocer, Emanuel Mortimer of Lowtown, Pudsey. The firm of Wilcock & Sons was a fruit preservers and manufacturing confectioners located in Elland Road. A line drawing gives an impression of the size of the factory.

This was our family's Great-Grandfather's factory, so finding this invoice was a thrill. Benjamin Frederick Wilcock was my husband's great-grandfather, and family lore states he once had a stall in Leeds Market next to Marks of Marks & Spencer. Benjamin had no sons, so we assume he was one of the sons and gained the business through his father, William. Great-grandson Irwin Shires now lives in Ohio, USA.
