Boar Lane, tram no.2099

Boar Lane, tram no.2099
c1949-50. View showing tram no.2099 on Boar Lane by the junction with Briggate and Duncan Street. Saxone Shoes is on the left and Walker and Hall, silversmiths, and Reid Bros., tailors, on the right. Tram no.2099 arrived in Leeds from London in September 1949, on trial with a view to buying more of the class which were known as Felthams. 92 were eventually bought; 90 of them arrived in Leeds but only 83 ever made it into service here. When the others began to arrive in August 1950, this tram which up until then had retained its London number 2099, was renumbered 501.
