North Street, The Eagle Tavern
c1974/75. Image shows the Eagle Tavern located at the junction of Benson Street with North Street. North Street runs along the white frontage of the pub and the junction with Benson Street is at the left-hand corner of the building. The photographer is in the vicinity of the Oatlands high-rise blocks of flats in Oatland Drive. The view is towards Burmantofts and shows flats on the Lincoln Green Estate in the middleground. More tower blocks located off York Road dominate the background.

Today I stood in the exact spot this picture was taken. The Eagle Tavern is now almost completely obscured as it has reverted to its original red-brick walls and there is a lot of tree's and shrubbery grown up behind the garages and in the garden of the end house behind the Volkswagon.
