View from the rear of Holborn Street looking in the direction of Woodhouse Ridge and Meanwood Road. The terraced houses are numbered, from left to right, 38 to 5 Holborn Street. The white, flat-roofed properties at the bottom are at right angles to the terraced houses and are in a block of four numbered 1, 1a, 3 and 3a Holborn Street. Holborn Terrace, bottom right, joins Woodhouse Street and a caravan is parked there. At the top, left, the semi-detached houses are in Marian Terrace and the row of, perhaps, garages seen opposite them are on the corner of Marian Terrace and Marian Road. On the derelict land adjacent to the garages it is possible to see the footprint of rows of back-to-back terraced houses. These were called Marian Avenue, Marian View, Marian Mount and Melville Road and ran between Melville Mount and Marian Road. Jubilee Road runs towards the group of buildings near the right edge. The partly demolished building without a roof was at one time the Electra Cinema in Jubilee Terrace at the junction with Cross Speedwell Street. It had opened in 1916 but was closed in 1957. The building later became a Printing Works, the base of Partridge Printers (Leeds) Ltd. The terraced homes in the background, left, are in Johnston Street.
