c1974/1975. View of the business of Sim Stankler & Co. Ltd., based at Byron Street Mills on Millwright Street. A sign at first floor level advertises craftsman tailored clothes. The Lady Beck runs at the rear of Byron Street Mills.
I recall visiting this factory as a small child with my Grand Parents Jack & Evelyn Franks. They ran the Scunthorpe shop for Stankler.

i worked at stanklers till 1970 had some great times . also on strike for an extra sixpence in old money who would do that today.also because i was one of the youngest did the sandwich run every morning.
I carried out some building work at Sim Stanklers home. The property was a detachted bungalow. Part of the roof was sheet copper because his wife wanted a green roof. My experience of this man can be put in two words, "A gentleman"
That black an white post is still there

Sim Stanley also had retail premises in Carlton Street, Castleford in the sixties and early seventies. They made some very nice suits and overcoats. I still have an overcoat made by the father and son business back in 1969. It is still as good as new. I often wonder what happened to the son. Sim the father will have passed on by now I'm sure. Does anyone have any knowledge please?
