King George V & Queen Mary en route to open Leeds Civic Hall
Description:
23rd August 1933. Image shows King George V and Queen Mary, seated in a carriage drawn by a pair of white horses along Sheepscar Street. The Royal couple are en route to open the Civic Hall in Leeds city centre. Many people line the street to enjoy a glimpse of the King and Queen as they pass by. The photographer, Jesse Schofield, worked for Leeds City Tramways as a tram conductress.
