Undated. View looking south-west over Scholes towards Swarcliffe and Seacroft. Wood Lane bridge in centre over Littlemoor railway. Steam train with carriages on line. Line ran Leeds-Wetherby. Photo credit C.H. Wood, Bradford.
Mr E Bartle
The railway was closed in 1964, so the picture pre dates this. For more information see http://www.barwickinelmethistoricalsociety.com/8508.html
I've recently come across a map of Scholes dated 1930 that I had previously copied for another project, but having only just found this map again a few days ago and seeing this picture today I think this photograph was taken around the c1930's. As the map shows Oaklea Road as only half built like the photo and only Elmete Avenue and Lyndfield Gardens are on this map .. its room for thought anyway plus obviously the railway is still up and running which didnt close until 1960's :)
Probably after 1945 as the prefab houses are there (bottom left).
I agree with NB who I may have gone to Scholes school with.I also believe that the photo may have been taken by Frank Turley of CH Wood who lived in Arthursdale from the early 50,s
