St. Mary
Undated. Aerial view of St. Mary's Church, Mabgate, situated on St. Mary's Street, seen to the right. This church, designed by Thomas Taylor, was built between 1823 and 1827. The Sunday School is the building behind. Terraced housing can be seen in the background, on New Church Place, Old Hall Street, Lyndhurst Street, Rider Street, St. Mary's Lane, Ward's Fold and Linsley Row. This housing has all now been demolished, as has the church; some of it (Ward's Fold and Linsley Row on the left) had gone by 1950, dating the photo to before then.
