1900. Formally known as Briggate, this is a view of Main Street to the left with Wakefield Road off to the right. The structure of the buildings remain unchanged today. When the photograph was taken in 1900, the corner shop was Backhouse's Butchers shop. The next door down on Main Street was the chemist. The sign board above the window was known to be Frank Ashton's chemist.
