Hawk
Description:
Undated. View shows a steam engine with carriage behind leaving the engine shed at Hawk's Nest Wood, on the Colliery Fly Line running between Aberford and Garforth. The building on the left is Hawk's Nest Cottage and the three ladies standing outside are members of the Hebden family who lived there. The engine driver was Tommy Malkin, son-in-law of Mr. Cooper, the stationmaster at Garforth, while the man pictured beside the train is Bright Masby, the shunter, whose father had a draper's business on Main Street.

We have pictures of the house in later times. We own the land at Hawks Nest cottage. Sadly most of the buildings are destroyed now, even the victorian railway carriage that was know as Hawks nest bungalow, which was burned down. in the early 1990's, by vandals/arsonists... Thanks for doing this website so all is not lost for the future generations... All the best, Brian.
