Does anyone know why it was closed down.....is the site to be re-developed or is the pub to be completely re-furbished ??? If it's the first option, then I don't understand why this kind of thing is allowed...developers & the local authorities should hang their heads in shame.01/12/2010

The last I heard about the Barleycorn was that planning permission was being sought to turn it into flats. Whether permission was granted I do not know. I suppose it would be better if it was converted to flats; at least we would still retain the building and, therefore, prevent any more of old Armley being demolished. Just left as it is the building is only going to deteriorate and possibly suffer from the actions of vandals.
