Image shows Councillor Arthur Vollans with the new housing development at South Parkway in the background. Councillor Vollans opened the new development which had taken two years to complete. It was a joint initiative of Leeds City Council, the Yorkshire Metropolitan Housing Association and the Yorkshire Bank. 57 new homes were created from the conversion of old cottage-style flats and new build. There were 6 3 bedroomed houses, 4 2 bedroomed houses, 12 one-bedroomed flats for the elderly and 33 sheltered flats with a warden on site, also for the elderly.
