August 1989. Image taken at the annual Leeds West Indian Carnival showing the Carnival Queen chosen for 1989, Ms Sheila Haworth, in her costume on the theme of 'Rainbow of Peace.' She is pictured with the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Les Carter and the Lady Mayoress. The designer of the elaborate costume was Mr. Kam Sangra, foreground. Both the Carnival Queen and the winning designer won the prize of a holiday in the Caribbean.
