Description: June 2008. View of the Shaftesbury Hotel at the junction of York Road and Harehills Lane, taken shortly before its demolition. Roof tiles have already been removed, and a 'For Sale' sign still hangs outside. Built on the site of the former St. Alban's vicarage, it had been a pub for over 70 years. User Comments: Name: Terrance Watson. Comment: My father and I ( including others )extended the cellar of the Shaftesbury around 1952-53.At the time there was a chocolate machine outside from the 40`s believe it or there was still chocolate in it, and coins.
