In the foreground there is an eighteenth century gown on display. The costume collection of Kenneth Sanderson was purchased by Leeds City Council in 1949 and it includes some important examples of 18th century fashion. The Leeds costume collection was transferred to Lotherton Hall in 1970 when two galleries were opened converted from guest bedrooms.
