Aberford Windmill
c1941-1943. Image shows Aberford Windmill in the early 1940s. In the 15th century it was in the ownership of the Abbot of Kirkstall and rented to a Mr. Gascoigne. (The Gascoigne family eventually became titled landowners.) Iron work, part of the structure of the mill, was removed and contributed to the Second World War effort. The surrounding houses are now demolished. Photograph by Leslie Chapman.
