Lotherton Hall, the Medal Room in the process of being reorganised
1976. Image shows the Medal Room at Lotherton Hall in the process of being reorganised. This may have been the original Drawing Room in Georgian times. Colonel Frederick Richard Thomas Trench Gascoigne inherited Lotherton Hall in 1893. He had the mahogany book shelves, seen here, fitted for his collection of military books, and display cases made for his medal collection. After his death in 1937 the collection of coins and medals was separated but the books were transferred to Leeds Reference Library.
