Green Lane, filming of
1962. View shows film director John Schlesinger (facing camera) during the shooting of his film 'Billy Liar'. This scene was shot on a cleared area off Green Lane where old terraced houses had recently been demolished.

I can remember both myself and my brother Keith going down to see the marching scenes of a triumphant Billy Liar filmed in the Green Lane area in 1962 when we were kids. We can remember mixing with the actors and extras whilst they were filming. A week's filming appeared in the film as a 10 second segment! It was filmed on the site where the Clyde Grange blocks of flats are now sited. Days of innocence and happy days
