I used to work in a shop called Wallace Dawes in Thorntons Arcade in the 60's. The clock became part of our working day especially when it chimed 6.0.clock on Saturday night!!! Happy days. Does anyone else remember working at Wallace Dawes?

I remember from about the age of 4 visiting Mr. Franks, who was an ophthalmologist in Thornton Arcade. He was a lovely old Jewish guy, with a good rapport with children. He used to try and make my NHS glasses seem special.
