1962. View shows film director John Schlesinger directing a scene from the film "Billy Liar", shot on location at a site just off Green Lane which was in the middle of major redevelopment with the demolition of many old terraced houses. Green Lane Primary School , also now demolished, is in the background. The film was adapted from the book of the same name by Leeds author Keith Waterhouse, who collaborated with Willis Hall, also from Leeds, to write the screenplay.
