To the left of the picture is the side of the ABC Cinema, which faces onto Vicar Lane. This cinema was closed in February 2000 and has since been demolished. On the right is Heatona House, a former clothing factory founded by William Heaton. Advertised as being 'To Let', it was sold to H.W. Poole, shoe manufacturer in 1979. It is now (2010) Crispin House, a development of luxury apartments.
