Undated. View of Coldcotes Drive looking in a north-easterly direction. To the right are the Coldcotes Circus shops, some which appear to be empty. In the background are blocks of high-rise flats; nearest the camera are Pembroke Towers, centre, and Pembroke Grange, right, situated on Wykebeck Valley Road. Further back are Parkway Court, left, and Parkway Grange (mostly hidden behind Pembroke Towers). The maisonettes of Neath Gardens are between the two sets of flats. i lived 45 coldcotes drive.it had 4 bedrooms.it is still there today.the view is looking from the park down,my house is halfway doen opposit the shops.we had many a happy a times playing football and netcba;; with seacroft boys and girls.the beck is where the flats are we loved playing there behind the flats was seacroft sanatorium.my uncle was a male nurse there.i lived there from 1946 to 1962 when i married mum and dad still lived there.

A single gate to the bottom end of Harehills cemetery, is about 50 yards or so over to the right of photographer. Gipton rent office was, or still is, about 25 yards to the left of the photographer.

The flats at the bottom of the photo were built approx 1965/67 Neath gardens is where i spent a lot of time I remember a friend who lived there Gary Betteridge who's father had a 350cc Norton motorbike and would take us on the pillion across the field between the blocks of flats. I lived on Brander Road the end of which is approx in-between the second and third cars on the right hand side of the picture. If my memory serves me well the first shop in the 50s was a butchers and next door was the Co-operative store where we as kids had to remember to take mum's dividend book went we were sent there for shopping. These shops were extended sometime in the early sixties and included a laundrette and an off licence. Further round the circus was a chip shop and next door was a shop that seemed to sell everything this shop was called Stuart's where we took back empty milk bottles and got an old penny per bottle which was then spent in the chip shop Ohhhhh Happy Days

Neath Gardens is where my parents lived all my life..Mum lived at 23 from the day they were built until a year before she died. Remember the bookies (William Hills) and Offie next door. Mums name was Joyce and Dad was a Railway man, Ronnie Hall. Garry Betteridge was a childhood friend and the beck could certainly tell some stories. Happy days indeed....
