Image shows two tram cars at Kirkstall Road Tram Works, photographed prior to World War I. In the foreground is car number 184 dating from 1901 which was undergoing modificatons at this time as part of an experiment. The modifications included a front entrance and vestibule. Number 184 was withdrawn in 1915 but not removed from stock until 1920. Number 6, background, left, built in 1897, was part of a series of 25, numbering 1-25. These cars were vestibuled from 1910 and some of the series received new controllers and trucks. Between 1928 and 1936 they had all been withdrawn from service. Kirkstall Road Tram Works was situated on the south-west side of Kirkstall Road.
