Lilian Street, children on the steps of number 21
1937. Portrait of four children seated on the steps at the entrance of number 21 Lilian Street. The two children on the left are brother and sister with the surname of Gomersal. The two little girls on the right are their cousins and are called Hugill (the mother was the sister of the Gomersal childrens' father.) One of the Hugill girls emigrated to New Zealand in later years. Billy, the dog is centre stage and he lived well into the war years. Lilian Street was one of several streets of back-to-back terraced homes running parallel with Kirkstall Road, near the viaduct. These streets are now demolished.
