Good heavens!!! 'A Wimpy Bar'. It must be nearly sixty years since me and my mates used to frequent the one on Boar Lane. It was probably the first Fast Food outlet in Leeds back then. I don't think that Chinese Restaurants had even arrived. 'Hamburgers', 'Knickerbocker Glories'. To us young-'uns, it all seemed 'state of the art' and very American. Back then, just a decade after W.W.2, anything seemingly American was 'The Bee's Knees'. I have a vastly different opinion these days. With regard to The Wimpy Bars:- I personally thought that they had all disappeared years ago. It seems that I am wrong, and although the company has changed hands over the years, the name is still there. It seems that they are still up and running in various parts of the country. In fact I have only just found out that there are three in the Leeds area. One in the centre of 'Town', one in Wakefield, and one in Brighouse. I wonder how far a shilling would go If I called in?

I remember 'using' this Restaurant and Wimpy Bar about this time, but I'm sure it was a 'steak restaurant' not fish. Was this after 'my' time or is my memory playing tricks.
