It doesn`t look anything like this now, it`s well run down - more like the ghetto.

The empty shop next to the Building Society used to be Ratcliffe the dentist. It was the last place to remain as a residence i.e.no shop front, and retained its garden all the way down to the footpath. Internally the place was like a museum. I had a tooth out there as a kid in the early sixties and was knocked out with what I found out years later to be Chloroform! The whole place stunk of the stuff. The premises later became Turnbulls office.

Somewhere along that parade, above the shops, was The Olga Sheard School of Dancing which my brother and I attended. However, we both were far too shy and the other pupils seemed so confident that we very soon left.
