Image shows tram number 289 photographed with Kirkstall Abbey in the background. The photo is thought to date from the time it was built, April 1912. It was one of a series of Hamilton designed trams, numbers 283 to 292, built between 1911 and 1912 at the Kirkstall Road Tramworks in Kirkstall Road. These were double-deckers with vestibules and open balconies on the top deck. The tram is pictured in Abbey Road.
