Briggate junction laid out in Low Fields Road Yard
1937. View of the tram track for Briggate junction as it had been laid out in Low Fields Road Yard, the Corporation Depot. At the left edge the gable end of the New Peacock Inn is visible at number 142 Elland Road. Beyond the yard is the Holbeck Cricket Club ground and streets in the Hoxton's can be seen across the background. The ground and roof-tops have a light covering of snow.

Houses on extreme right I think were the Cannonburys? They like the Hoxtons and the Cricket Ground are long gone. However the houses on horizon the 'Marleys" and 'Nosters' still remain (15/09/2012)

In late 1940s my dad took me to see cricket matches at the Holbeck CC. I recall a big fellow that opened batting for them, called Weatherill ( I think). I also remember seeing the 'skeletons' of trams that were getting dismantled on this site and the 'cremation' burning of their wooden parts. Brian Thomas refers to the Marleys and Nosters on the left horizon. I would add that, if you look closely, you can also see the distinctive "half-end" profile of the right-hand terrace block which is probably Marley Terrace/Grove.
