c1911. Image shows men at work laying tram track in Tong Road. There are in the region of 20 men involved in the construction process. On the left a man on a ladder is posting advertising bills. One of the adverts is for Summer Steeplechases at Blackpool, with £1500 in stakes. This section of tram track in Tong Road ran from near the junction of Copley Hill to Whingate, route number 10.

I think this is the stretch of Tong Road close to Thornhill Road and Colton Road. Colton Road would be to the left of the picture. Carr Crofts is behind the second block of houses. To the left of the picture there are now some town houses, probably built in the 1930's.
