1940-1942. View of Stanley Road, centre background, at the junction with Beckett Street, right. On the left is the junction with Harehills Road, (off camera). A public lavatory for 'Gentlemen' is at the corner with Stanley Road, right. The large building on the left is the Police Station on Ashley Road (Ashley Road is off camera, left.) The arched entrance in the centre has a sign reading 'Auxiliary Fire Station'. Leeds City Tramways had a car shed located in Stanley Road near Leeds Corporation Refuse Destructor and Leeds Corporation Disinfecting Station (buildings adjacent to the fire station). Note the war-time black-out white markings on the kerbs, lamp posts and telegraph poles.
