Roundhay Road, Grandways
Undated. View of Grandways Supermarket, converted from old shop properties on Harehills Parade, Roundhay Road, near the junction with Harehills Road. Grandways was a Yorkshire firm but the stores closed in 1992/93. Some were sold to the Argyll Group to become 'Presto' or 'Kwik Save'. The rest were renamed Jackson's. This store was converted back to individual shop properties.

My grandfather was the manager of the Jesse Stephensons store on Roundhay Road sometime in the 1920s and I believe that this was one of the stores which became part of the Grandways store.

What wonderful architecture above these shop frontages Leeds still has lots of history untouched if we stand and look up
