The Victoria Memorial, postcard
c1906. Colour tinted postcard showing the Queen Victoria memorial statue sculpted by George Frampton which was unveiled in 1905. The queen herself is depicted sitting at the top of a pedestal in Coronaton robes and crown. Below are figures influenced by Renaissance art which represent Peace (left) and Industry (right). The statue was originally sited outside Leeds Town Hall but was moved to Woodhouse Moor in 1937. From postcard dated August 1906.
