Black Prince Statue, postcard
September 1903. Postcard view of the statue of Edward the Black Prince in City Square. The card was posted on 19th September 1903, three days after the ceremony in which the statue was unveiled. A note written on the back says 'This is the best photo of the new equestrian statue'. The statue, commissioned by Alderman T. Walter Harding, was sculpted by Thomas Brock. In the background of the photo is the Standard Life Assurance Building, left, while on the right is an open-top tram.
