Description: 1975. View through the gates of the stone-built Hawthorn Cottage, located near Tower Lane. User Comments: Name: Sheila Jubb Comment: Hawthorn Cottage was at the top end of the Recreation Ground Moorfield Road. To the right of the gates there was a path leading up to Tower Lane, and along a field which was on Hill Top Armley opposite the Travellers Rest pub. It is many years since I was around this area, but I seem to remember that the original gates were wood and there was the name "Hawthorn Cottage" painted on them. As a child I often used to go to Moorfield 'Rec' with my friends to play. There was a large house on the junction with Armley Grange Mount and Hill Top that has recently been demolished and I think it may have been called Highthorne House.
