c1914. Postcard with a postmark 15th May 1914 showing views of Leeds Training College at Beckett Park. This teacher training college had recently opened (1913) but was soon to be taken over as a military hospital during the First World War. Later part of the City of Leeds Carnegie College then Leeds Polytechnic, it is now (2011) a campus of Leeds Metropolitan University. As well as the main teaching block (top centre), there are views of several halls of residence : Macaulay Hall, Priestley Hall, Bronte Hall, Leighton Hall and Caedmon Hall.

Leighton, Priestley,Caedmon, Macauley and Bronte Halls were the female halls of residence. The only mens halls I can remember were Fairfax and Grange. During the late 1950s and 1960s whilst working as a radio and T.V. engineer, installing and maintaining the T.Vs. in the halls of residence, was a job to be fought over amongst the service staff.
