View of the Upper Lake in Roundhay Park showing the fountain in full flow. The woods surrounding the Upper Lake, Ram and Castle Woods, date from medieval times. The Upper Lake was constructed for Thomas Nicholson in the early 19th Century. It was lined in clay and fed from a stream of water which flowed through Great Pastures and Eleven Acres.
