c1904. Colour-tinted postcard with a postmark of 26th August 1904 showing Pollard's Wood at Chapeltown.

User Comments:

V Clapham

I believe that this wood was near where the Chapel Allerton Allotments are now.

Ted Marriott

During my childhood in the 1950s Gledhow Valley Wood and Pollard's Wood were quite distinct. Pollard's Wood described the L-shaped strip of woodland that parallels Lincombe Drive, following the stream beside Allerton Grange way and then beside Gledhow Valley Road towards Gledhow Lane. This photograph would have been taken from somewhere on the grassy area where the Friends of Gledhow Valley Wood now host their annual Family Fun Day
