Pudsey Police Station, Dawson's Corner, Pudsey

Pudsey Police Station, Dawson
2000/2001 View of Pudsey Police Station located at Dawson's Corner. The station dates from the early 1970's but recently (2010), underwent a £2.5 million transformation which included a purpose-built 22 cell custody complex. Formerly custody facilities had been split between the two sites of Weetwood Police Station and the Leeds Bridewell.

I worked here as a patrol inspector from 1993 to retirement in 1997. They do say that the site was originally acquired for a planned motorway police post for the Kirkhamgate - Dishforth Motorway which would have passed close by but which was never built. Bearing in mind that at that time it covered an area extending to Armley gyratory it must have been about as daft a location as could have been thought up. I was born in Armley and later lived in Bramley so it was a good posting for me.
