Undated. View of Beeston Primary School (right of centre) located at the junction of Town Street and Crow Nest Lane. It was originally known as Beeston Council School before becoming Beeston County Primary School.

I went to this school starting in 1975, Mrs Patterson was my teacher, all i remember was it was a very cold building but i can still remember it like it was yesterday, i can remember my first day there..

I started school here in January, 1952. The headmistress of the infants' school was Miss Awkitt. Other teachers there were Miss Raistrick, Miss Stockdale and Miss Penny (who was close to retirement and had taught my father). I remember sitting on the hall floor in assembly and being told that we were to sit in silence for a minute because the King had died. That would have been February, 1952. We moved to Cottingley the following year and I left Beeston School at Easter 1953. In the 1970s two of my children went to Beeston and in 1977 I was a helper in the infants.

I went to Beeston County Primary school from 1956-1960.I think at that time the headmaster was Mr Rhodes and two teachers I remember were Mr Shipman & Miss Booth (she played the piano).It was a very good school at the time & I have fond memories of my schooldays there.My father had also attended in the 20s & 30s.And my grandma also went to this same school in the nineteen hundreds.I have some lovely sepia school photo's of both her & her younger sister.As my sisters 2 children also attended there in the 1990s that means that four generations of our family all went to the same school.

I started infants here in 1965/6. Mr Ponty was the headmaster and Miss Booth and Mr Shipman were still there when I left. By then we had a brand new school with a pride of the 1960s open plan layout. (The noise was unbelievable!). My Dad attended in the 1940s who Mr S fondly remembered and didn't let me forget it. When the lollipop lady retired we all got a lolly - what a treat- and had our picture in the paper- boys and girls all in knitted bonnets and balaclavas- knitted by Nannas.

This was my primary school when we moved to a house in Town Street. Miss Booth and Mr Shipman were teachers there. Julie Sharman is a pupil name I remember! I also remember the school being cold, particularly in winter, which wasn't helped by having to drink a bottle of freezing cold milk every day! I remember a lollipop man who gave us a sweet as we crossed the road to school. I can't remember the new school being built I can visualise myself on a Wednesday morning in the new school doing a 100 times tables test.

I attended in the 1950's. I recall there being 2 main buildings-the infants was to the west and separated by a big wall we all used to climb up and walk along the top of at playtime-the H&S people would have kittens today. Also there were a couple of classes in prefabs at the back

I started in 1946 age 3 and left in 1958. I loved school and remember crying when I left to start work. Happy memories of Mr Shipman, Miss Booth, Mr Rhodes and the Head Mr Nicholson. Some years back I organised a couple of reunions and 70 turned up we all had good memories of our time together. We had limited schooling here but we had all turned out well, and said Beeston was such a special place and set us all on the right path

I went to this school from about 1952 to 1958. I started in Miss Langdale's infant class. Miss Hawkett was the headmistress and Miss Hopkins taught the top class. We used to have to line up once a week for a teaspoon of molasses and codliver oil and got very sweet orange juice in a brown medicine bottle. These must have been the beginning of the school health programme. I remember Malcolm Burrows died from diphtheria while we were in primary school and I caught scarlet fever only weeks after it was taken off the list of notifiable diseases that would have sent me to the Seacroft Isolation Hospital. Do you remember the square letter box set into the School Wall and the old police station and XL grocers. In winter the 1/3 pint bottles of milk used to freeze, the silver tops would pop off - and the blue tits would sit on the crates and pick at the frozen cream?
