Image shows the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Kirkstall Forge Locks. These locks are designated as a Grade II listed building and date from between
1770 and 1777. The flight of three locks are constructed with Millstone Grit walls. The stretch of the Leeds and Liverpool canal between Leeds and Gargrave was completed by 1777, and the entirety of the canal was built by 1816. Forge Locks have a rise of 23 feet 6 inches or about 7.2 metres.
