The factory in the left to centre background was the Co-op shoe factory on Education Road. Only the left an opening can be seen in the brickwork, this was a ginnel that came out on Meanwood Road with Meanwood Road CP school to the right. Over the bridge a path led out onto Sheepscar Street. The beck changed colour almost on a daily basis depending on which dyes were being used in the tanneries further upstream. Children displayed their bravery by jumping across the beck in this vicinity.
