Great George Street, cleared site for building
c early 1980s. Image shows a cleared area of land on Great George Street at the junction with Portland Street. Victorian properties in both streets were demolished to make way for the new brick built St. George's House which opened in 1984. Left standing is the Victoria Hotel, the large building right of centre, at number 28 Great George Street. In the background, at the left edge, part of the Civic Theatre is visible and on the right, the Education Offices and the Town Hall.
