Undated. View of the edge of Waterloo Lake at Roundhay Park where two boathouses can be seen; the older one is on the left while the newer one built in 1902 is on the right. Rowing boats are moored at both sides of the lake. Two swans are also visible.

There are no rowing-boats or launches on the lake these days. Why is is that???

Yes Graham; one really does wonder. When my children were infants and juniors they wanted to spend their entire visit to Leeds on the smaller lake in Roundhay Park where they were taught to row by a lifeguard/student, Richard, whose father was Polish. We've never forgotten him, nor the joy he gave instructing them in an activity for life way back in the 1970's. Where can children be taught, without costing a fortune, now?
