Water Lane, from Globe Road

Water Lane, from Globe Road
2011. View of Water Lane from the junction with Globe Road, looking onto buildings which were formerly part of the Round Foundry, the engineering works of James Fenton, Matthew Murray and David Wood dating back to 1795-97 and believed to be the world's first fully integrated engineering works. No.99 on the left is Grade II* listed and thought to be the remains of the Green Sand foundry built by Matthew Murray. No.101 to the right is also believed to date from around 1795-1802 and is Grade II listed. It is now the Midnight Bell public house, which was the first pub to be opened by the new, independent Leeds Brewery in 2008.
