Undated. Pastel drawing by local artist Joe Tunnington depicting The Parade, a parade of shops and businesses located on the east side of King Lane. King Lane is seen on the right-hand side and in the foreground, left, is the junction with The Avenue. In the 1940s businesses included, a motor garage, a fish and chip shop, the Post Office and a chemists.

I find from family records that my father made this sketch in 1943. The cottages on the far horizon are the "Tunnel Cottages", built to house the workers on the water tunnel from Eccup reservoir via Seven Arches, to supply Leeds. The cottages are now demolished
