Description:
2008. View shows a train about to pass under the bridge beside Cross Gates Railway Station. This is the 'Scarborough Spa Express' pulled by the preserved British Railways steam engine no.45231 named 'The Sherwood Forester'. Built in 1936, it was one of the Class 5 4-6-0 engines designed by William Stanier and known as the 'Black Five'. Image courtesy of Leslie Cole.
